A snapshot of our history.
It was in January 2006 that like many golfers I looked out of my windows onto a grey, cold and miserable day. The Christmas tree was dead, the presents were had and I was sat wearing the new tie from the kids, the socks from the in laws and the new shirt from the Mrs…….but all I wanted to do was to go play golf with my mates! But I wanted something a little different and a bit special. Surfed the internet, called the travel agents and read all the back pages of the golf magazines and found nothing but the same old same old!
Over the years having done Spain, Portugal and the Canaries even Australia one time with the boys. I was adamant that for once in my life I wanted to play golf somewhere totally different, travel in style and have no hassles but not spend my kids college fund………..tall order !
I kept coming back to the idea of playing the courses that I had read about over the years and even watched on the TV. It was then decided that the USA, east coast was where it had to be! The ingredients were all there, great weather, fantastic course locations, like North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida. Home to some of the greatest golf in the world, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach even Augusta!

The first trip was a bit of an adventure. Flew to Atlanta, rented a people carrier for four of us and hit the road. We played golf by day and drove by night heading from one course to the other. God we did some miles and boy did we play some fantastic golf courses. Say what you want about the Yanks, but they can sure design courses and provide the service that you would expect. After 7 days we returned to the UK totally exhausted!
Hindsight is a great thing and on reflection the trip was a success except we were worn out from all the miles that we drove getting from one course location to the other. Just by chance a friend of mine who lives in the states came to visit me on a trip to London. We arranged to play 18 at my local club and to catch up on the past. As I extolled my stories of our pilgrimage to the great golf courses and the miles we covered in the van he made me a suggestion that would set the stage for where we are today. The reason my mate was over here in London is that he was arranging the travel itinerary for a number of very famous musicians and bands that were going on tour to the USA. As he explained these people travel in luxury from one venue/city to another in chauffer driven, high end luxury coaches equipped with every imaginable comfort from flat screen TVs, on board lounges, entertainment centres, to a fully stocked bar. All self contained in a 50ft “home on wheels”.
